CD6

Just got back from my Cycle Day 6 monitoring. Weekend monitoring is always a crapshoot.

So after an uneventful blood draw, I head to an exam room and drop my drawers for my ultrasound. A doctor I've never met tells the nurse to note that there's "some free fluid in the cavity." Um, come again? I ask her what that means, and she says not to worry, that it's probably the end of my period. I tell her my period ended three days ago, and she again says not to worry. I ask what it could mean, and she says if I have further questions I can ask my nurse when she calls me this afternoon.

Screw that. First, my nurse won't call me this afternoon--it's the weekend, so one of a hundred nurses could call. Second, you and I are in a room together right now. I am paying for this appointment. A little information, please?

Now, keep in mind that I'm super sensitive and nervous about this cycle. My perception of things is probably wack.

At home, my level-headed husband reminded me that a doctor's bedside manner isn't indicative of her skill. He's right, and there's really nothing I can do but keep praying and hoping and trying to push this negativity out of my head.

Dear readers, have any of your ever had fluid chillin' in your uterus after your period had ended? Cause for concern?

  1. I hate medical professionals. I'm thinking about prophylactically murdering my sister before she gets into medical school. It's like they think we're all ignorant bovine morons who will instantly be soothed by "don't worry," just because it came from a mouth hovering a few inches above a labcoat.

Sorry, don't know anything about uterus fluid. Though I did used to have yellow-brown staining for like a week after my period, so maybe that was chillaxin' womb juice. It freaked me out but it was fine and nothing came of it. Dude, I just realized you're on CD6 so the talking coat is probably right, it probably is just fine. My staining could last until CD12.

  2. Once when I went in for an U/S, my doc pointed out that I had a big blob (not her exact words) of CM in the middle of my uterus so that could be a possibility? BTW, I did POAS yesterday and it was neg. Beta Monday.

  3. Ugh, weekend monitoring blows. Big time. Not to mention that you have to get up at the butt crack of dawn on a weekend, schlep your way to the office, get stuck by the crappiest of blood takers and then be wanded by some RE who is miserable about being there on the weekend.

I don't think there was ever a time where I *didn't* have the free fluid in my cavity. If my memory serves me correct, it is leftover lining from AF. Usually it's a build-up of old blood. I know it's really common for Endo patients from what I remember Dr.S telling me ... but it shouldn't interfere with your cycle so don't stress about it. If you had a particularity heavy or even very light AF this go-around it might explain why there is some fluid hanging around.
    Hope that helps you :)

  4. I hate weekend monitoring. I once had to practically pin the attending doctor against the wall to answer a few questions. She made me feel like I was a major inconvenience and kept trying to dart out the door.

Don't know anything about fluid in the cavity though. Sorry. Wishing you the best this cycle.

    Happy ICLW!

  5. I have no idea, but that would irk me too. I always ask lots of questions and my re's office is pretty good at answering them. Hopefully it's nothing.

  6. Can't help you with the fluid thing, sorry.

I hate doctors/nurses with a crappy bedside manner. Your hubs is right, it is not indicative of skill, thank g*d. I recently had surgery and the surgeon's personality SUCKED, but she rocked it & that is whats important.

Stopping by via via ICLW & yay for running (your last post).
Best of luck on this cycle.

  7. I've also heard of mucus hanging around in the tubes and wonder if it is part of the same mysterious fluid that this doctor couldn't even take the time to explain. No kidding you are paying to have your questions answered!

...visiting your blog during ICLW and see that your blog is fairly new, mine too. This is my first ICLW. Best wishes for this cycle, I'll stick around and follow.

  8. Welcome to ICLW! I also enjoy running and am a dog mom.

As for the fluid - I have noticed that I start getting some mucous around CD 6-7, but I haven't had an u/s then to know what is going on. I have always just attributed it to my body's normal fluids. GL this cycle!

  9. Sorry to hear the appointment was crap. At day 6 I think there is a possibility it could be from your period still. Hopefully it's nothing and this cycle moves along great!

    Happy ICLW!
