On Testing

For three of my four IUIs, I've had my beta scheduled for Monday. It kind of kills the weekend.

Not much to say except that I don't want to take the beta. At this point in my journey, I would probably wait until I felt the baby kick before taking a pregnancy test. During our first year of trying, I often tested before my period--it was still exciting, still hopeful. I learned my lesson--testing early and seeing a negative is a distaster. If you're infertile, you know the drill. It's negative, so you're heartbroken. But your period hasn't arrived, so you still hold out hope that maybe you've just tested too early. And then your period comes, and you're heartbroken all over again. I'd rather only go through the agony once.

Anyway, let's hope for a miracle, people! If not, all will be OK. We'll take the month off from treatment, I'll go for some nice long runs, have a few drinks, and try again.
